Why Wasn’t My Application Chosen? (We Know It’s Hard!)
Share
Opening your heart to a rescue dog is a beautiful thing. That is why one of the toughest parts of our job is telling wonderful people that they weren't selected for a specific dog.
We truly know how much time, thought, and love goes into filling out an adoption application. We also know that so many of you would make absolutely fantastic Boston terrier parents!
When our adoption team reviews applications, we aren't just looking for a "good" home—we are looking for the perfect match for that specific dog's unique quirks and needs.
Every dog is an individual. For example:
- Dog buddies: Some pups thrive with a canine brother or sister.
- Only pets: Others want to be the solo king or queen of the castle.
- Fenced garden: Some need a secure yard to sprint in, while others are content with leash walks.
- Daily life: Age, activity levels, work schedules, training needs, and personalities all play a huge role.
If you weren't chosen this time, please don't take it to heart. It doesn't mean you wouldn't provide a loving home. In fact, we are often lucky enough to get several amazing applications for the exact same dog. The hardest part for us is that there is only one dog, which means we can only choose one family. We also cannot hold applications on file due to GDPR laws. We encourage you to keep applying with us.
Our ultimate goal is to find each dog their "forever" home on the very first try.
Many of our dogs have already been through a lot of change, confusion, or medical struggles. By the time they are ready for adoption, they have become cherished members of their foster families. Saying goodbye is heartbreaking for our fosters!
They pour their time, patience, and love into helping these dogs heal. We owe it to both the dog and the foster family to be incredibly thoughtful.
Imagine for a moment that you had to find a new home for your own beloved pet. You would want to ask a million questions and be 100% sure about the fit, right?
That is the exact same responsibility we carry for every single pup.
We know our decisions can cause disappointment, and we truly care about that. But please know that every choice is made with the dog’s long-term happiness in mind, with the hope that they have finally found their last, forever home.
Thank you so much for your understanding, your patience, and your big hearts!
