Adoption procedure

There is no other dog like a Boston Terrier. They are playful, loving, energetic,
adaptable - all in equal measures. There is never a dull day if you have a Boston in
the house. However, before you go any further you must ask yourself this one
question: Is a rescue Boston Terrier right for you?

Rehoming a Boston that has lived somewhere else before is not the quick, easy or
cheap way to get a dog. They might not be reliably housetrained (and may never
be), have behavioural issues such as separation anxiety and whilst we assess the
dogs that come into our care and try and address as many issues prior to rehoming,
adopting a Boston with a history can sometimes prove a lifelong challenge.

Are you
ready for that and prepared to put the work in?

If so then our process is:

Dogs who are ready to go to their new home, will be put up for adoption via our
website and social media, and we will invite applicants to apply. This means
applicants need to send in an application for a specific dog for it to be considered.
Our rehomers work hard to make the best possible match between the dog and
applicant through a careful and thorough adoption process.

Each dog differs in personality, temperament, energy, comfort with kids and other
animals, medical needs, and more. We consider all these factors when choosing an
adopter. It is distressing for a rescued dog if their new adoptive family rejects them
after only a few days or weeks because they aren’t the right fit.

Our rehomers will shortlist suitable applicants and then phone them to have a chat
and discuss the dog and their application in more detail.

If an applicant is successful, a home check will be carried out, with all family
members present. The home check allows us to better understand the environment
in which the dog will be living and provide the applicant with an opportunity to ask
any questions they may have.

Once the home check has been completed and passed, the applicant will be notified
their application has been successful. The adoption contract will be sent and once it
has been signed, returned and the adoption fee has been paid, the applicant will
arrange to collect the dog from their foster home.

Please understand that not being selected for a particular dog does not reflect on
your suitability as a home. We may receive several excellent applications for a single
dog.

We do not keep adoption applications on file. If your application is not selected, we
encourage you to apply for another dog looking for their forever home.
