FOSTER TO ADOPT - ROMY

3 year old Romy is looking for a very special dog-free home with someone who has experience with anxious or fearful dogs and understands that earning her trust will take time.
Romy is currently based in Dorset

⚠️ PLEASE NOTE: MULTIPLE MEET-UPS IN DORSET WILL BE ESSENTIAL BEFORE ROMY CAN MOVE TO HER FOSTER HOME.

Please read Romy’s bio fully before applying and make sure you can commit to the meet-ups required.

🏡 Romy is looking for:

✅ An experienced dog owner with experience of anxious or fearful dogs
✅ A calm, predictable home
✅ Consistent routines and boundaries
✅ Someone willing to go at Romy’s pace, without putting pressure on her
✅ Someone who is home for most of the day – working from home, semi-retired or retired could be ideal
✅ A quiet, low-traffic household
✅ A rural or semi-rural location
✅ A secure garden with high fencing

🚫 Romy would not be suited to:

❌Children
❌Cats or other small furry pets
❌A busy household with lots of visitors
❌A busy lifestyle with lots of outings and constant adventures
❌ Flats or apartments (she can be very vocal)
❌ No resident dogs - so adopters can focus on Romy 1:1

❤️ Taking things at Romy’s pace

Romy struggles with anxiety and can be reactive towards new people when she feels frightened or unsure. She needs someone who understands her fears and is prepared to give her the time, patience, consistency and routine she needs to feel safe.

For Romy, moving to a new home needs to be a gradual process. She cannot simply be collected and taken straight to a foster home.

Anyone applying must be willing and able to travel to Dorset on multiple occasions to spend time with Romy before she moves in. These visits are an essential part of the process, allowing Romy to become familiar with her potential foster-to-adopt family and begin building trust before such a big change.

Please carefully consider the travel, time and commitment involved before applying.

Progress with Romy may come in small steps, but for the right person who is willing to give her all the time she needs, the bond they build together could be incredibly special.

Could you be Romy’s special person?
