Gusdog the Great - a Tribute
It's with a heavy heart we have to share the news of Gusdog falling forever asleep on Monday 11th November
GusDog was an extraordinary dog… but not just any dog, a super hero Boston Dog!
Born in 2013 he went to live with his Mummars in October and there started his life of Stardom!
Following an Eye Ulcer in 2017, followed by two operations everything was good, but then a slow moving tree jumped him where his eye damaged beyond repair and was removed. That didn’t stop the mighty Gus though! Complete with his Pirate outfit, life was ok but sadly a few months later, the remaining eye started to struggle and decided it too needed a permanent holiday. Gus Dog then had to have the eye removed.
With no eyes, you would think he would give up but no!
Armed with his cape, photographic memory of the house setup, he was home and raring to go and there was literally not stopping him!
Although he couldn't see the light, he certainly searched out the limelight and was often found in the Spotlight, visiting Crufts, meeting Clare Balding (I KNOW!), meeting and greeting his adoring fans across the country, being star of Facebook and Instagram and wherever he could put his adorable little face.
Gus continued his agility, scent work, visits to care homes as a therapy dog and fundraising, adding Teddy Draws to the Ball Draws and raising nearly £1000 each and every month right up until this year, when he retired. We estimate that Gus raised in excess of £70,000 over the years.
In all seriousness, Gus Dog was an amazing dog, with the biggest personality, with amazing Mummars with the biggest hearts, who are totally heartbroken. We all send our love and the biggest hugs to Cath and Catronia and of course Link and Lenny .
All of us here at UKBTR are heartbroken, as many of you will be too.
I'm going to light a candle at 7pm this evening, for GD.
If you would like to join me, please do…. Raise a glass for Gus, all that he did and all that he stood for!
Go to his Facebook or IG page and read his stories, laugh, cry and remember him for the wonderful little stubborn, adorable, laugh out loud pup that he was..He would want us to laugh at his antics and especially at the fool and the other one
