November and December Update

It’s been a busy time here again at UKBTR headquarters! We currently have 6 dogs waiting to come into the rescue and another 3 possible surrenders. Our new rehoming process has been a great success, and we have found inviting applications for individual dogs a much smoother process for everyone involved.
We have welcomed some new fosterers as well as new volunteers who will be helping with home checks, assessments and transporting. We are always looking for people to come on board as volunteers so please apply via our website if you would like to help.
During November and the start of December we were running our virtual Christmas Market and its been a great success. A huge thank you to all our virtual stall holders and to everyone who supported them by buying their handmade items. Each stall holder has donated a % of their sales so we will add the donations up and announce a total soon.
The market brings us on to the use of the @ everyone tag. The use of the tag has caused quite an uproar and we have lost around 2K members from the group. However, the use of the tag has been overall extremely successful for us, and the trustees have discussed and agreed that we will continue using it, when needed. We have always struggled in reaching our followers, quite often posts only reach 1K people out of 14K and the @ everyone tag means we reach so many more people. We feel that if people are in the group, they are here to support the rescue and what we do, and genuinely won’t mind the use of the tag.
We need to pass on a huge thank you to everyone who has bought the 2023 UKBTR Calendar. You have raised a massive £1512 which is amazing! As always, a massive thank you to our Amy Read calendar extraordinaire, who collates your photos and works so hard to make sure every dog gets into the calendar. She also puts up with me telling her it needs done in 2 weeks and she needs to hurry (sorry!).
Another massive thank you needs to go to our Rose Hunt who has been an absolute godsend, coming onboard and becoming our fundraising queen. She has been the driving force behind our new merchandise, VIP membership, UKBTR range of cards (which she designs!) amongst everything else.
We will be closing for our Christmas break on Sunday the 18th December and will be back on the 03rd January. Everyone behind the scenes has been working so hard so time to sit back and enjoy their festive break.
